1、Introduction of the College
Huaqiao University is a vibrant center for Chinese language and cultural education. It's recognised as a leader in fostering the cultural development of college students, and promotes a spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship throughout China. Huaqiao University College of Music and Dance, founded in 2007 in the beautiful city of Xiamen, is dedicated to connecting with diverse cultures and promoting the richness of Chinese music and dance. With a special focus on reaching overseas communities, as well as Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan, the College actively preserves and shares traditional Chinese art forms. It serves as a vital hub for training talented musicians and dancers, recognised both by the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council and the Fujian Province. The College also houses the Chinese Music and Dance Overseas Inheritance Research Center and the Institute of Fujian and Taiwan Opera Music, furthering its commitment to research and preservation.

The College offers two four-year undergraduate degrees:

Additionally, the College provides a Master of Arts professional degree program, preparing graduates for advanced careers in the arts.

The College boasts a talented and experienced faculty of 47 educators, including 40 dedicated professional teachers. Our instructors bring diverse backgrounds and global perspectives, with over 40% having studied abroad. Many hold prestigious degrees and come from renowned institutions, offering students a wealth of knowledge and real-world expertise. This team of highly-qualified educators is committed to providing dynamic and enriching learning experiences.

The College faculty are leaders in their fields, demonstrating a strong commitment to research excellence. They've led numerous significant projects, including 2 prestigious National Social Science Foundation art projects and 13 provincial and ministerial-level research initiatives. Their expertise is recognised through publications in top-tier journals like "Music Research" and "Chinese Musicology", as well as nearly 100 academic papers and over 10 books. This dedication to scholarship has garnered nearly 100 awards, including the Fujian Provincial Social Science Outstanding Achievement Award and the Fujian Provincial Hundred Flowers Art Award.

The College boasts a diverse and accomplished alumni network of over 1,800 graduates, including more than 260 international students from 11 countries and regions such as Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Nigeria, North Korea, Myanmar, Japan, South Africa, Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan. Currently, 652 students are enrolled, with 114 representing the College's global reach.
The College has built more than 10 education practice bases with Southeast Asia, Europe, America and other regions. Each year, approximately 25% of our outstanding graduates have the opportunity to gain valuable experience through overseas educational practice programs.

The College's research focuses on fascinating areas like the "Belt and Road Initiative" and "Traditional Music and Dance of Southern Fujian". Notable projects include:
"Research on the Inheritance of Chinese Music in Countries Along the Maritime Silk Road": This National Social Science Foundation art study explores the spread and preservation of Chinese music across cultures.
Regional Studies: Projects like "Quanzhou Nanyin Xiao Do Rhyme", "Fujian Composers' Practice Research on Nanyin Symphonic", and others delve into the rich regional music and dance traditions of Fujian.

Choral Excellence: Our choir has consistently placed first in prestigious competitions like the China Charm Campus Chorus Festival (four times!) and the Fujian University Students Art Festival Chorus Competition (three consecutive wins).
Instrumental Brilliance: Our Chinese Orchestra delivered an award-winning performance of "Picking Apples", securing the top prize at the Fujian University Students Art Festival.
